Brooke Sabia Named UMass Co-Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass field hockey sophomore midfielder Brooke Sabia was named the UMass Co-Athlete of the Week after helping the Minutewomen to shut out Ohio State, 1-0 with her third game-winning goal of the season and eighth overall in only seven contests. Sabia will be honored along with women's soccer freshman Sarah Pandolfi at the weekly UMass Sports Luncheon, hosted on Wednesday, Sept. 18, beginning at Noon on the First Floor Concourse of the Mullins Center.
The guest speakers will be UMass football head coach Charley Molnar and women's cross country head coach Julie LaFreniere. Open to all fans of the Minutemen and Minutewomen, the UMass Sports Luncheon offers a full salad to dessert buffet for $13 while parking is available in the lot directly West of the Mullins Center.
Sabia leads the Atlantic 10 in goals and points (16) while standing tied for second nationally in tallies and tied for fourth overall in NCAA Division I field hockey for points recorded.
The Minutewomen head to Connecticut (5-0) to continue the 2013 campaign on Wednesday, Sept. 18, with a 6 p.m. game in Storrs, Conn., before returning to Garber Field for a Sunday, Sept. 22 contest against Hofstra at 1 p.m. Admission to all home games is free.
