UMass To Face Virginia In The NCAA Tournament First Round

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts field hockey program will make its 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament when the Minutewomen face the Virginia Cavaliers at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Duke University in Durham, N.C. UMass won the 2013 Atlantic 10 Tournament to earn the automatic berth into the postseason and enters the NCAA Tournament with an 18-4 overall record.
Duke, the No. 4 seed in the field, will face New Hampshire at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 16. The winner of each first round contest advances to face one another at 2 p.m. on Nov. 17.
Maryland is the top overall seed in the tournament while Syracuse is No. 2 and North Carolina is seeded third. The semifinals will be played on Nov. 22 while the NCAA Championship will occur on Nov. 24 in Norfolk, Va.
