AMHERST, Mass. - Senior Cerie Mosgrove of the women's basketball team and senior Sean Busch of the men's track & field squad have been named the 2011 UMass Winter Scholar-Athletes, it was announced on Tuesday. The duo will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday, Apr. 6, at Room 1009 of the Campus Center at 12:15 p.m.

Mosgrove led the nation in three-point percentage this season, finishing her senior campaign 78-of-157 from beyond the arc for a 49.7% clip, and recently won the National Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship in Houston, Texas. She set UMass records for threes made, three-point percentage and free throw percentage (.864) in 2010-2011 and ranks third all-time for career three-point field goals made (171) and career three-point percentage (.390). The guard/forward set career highs in every statistical category in her final campaign with the Minutewomen, including points (408) and rebounds (195). Slated to graduate this spring with a degree in Sport Management, Mosgrove boasts a 3.22 grade-point average.

Busch repeats as UMass Winter Scholar-Athlete after earning the honor in 2010. The two-time member of the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference squad was tabbed the A-10 Men's Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year this indoor season and was a 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I first team honoree, as well. He holds a 3.70 grade-point average as an Electrical Engineering major.

Busch set the school indoor pole vault record (16-00.75) this winter en-route to his second straight Atlantic title in the event after winning both the indoor and outdoor A-10 pole vault titles as a junior in 2010. Heading into his final outdoor season, Busch ranks second in UMass history with a mark of 15-9 in the pole vault and was a past qualifier for both the New England and IC4a meets.
