During the 2011-12 season, UMass will be featuring a "Minutewoman of the Game" at home games throughout the year. In addition to being featured on the program card, the Minutewoman of the Game will also be available for an autograph session following the game.
Ronni Grandison is a 5-10 freshman from West Chester, Ohio, out of Lakota West High School who chose to come to UMass because she was drawn here by the campus and academics, in addition to the basketball program, when she visited the University. Now that she's here, she loves the people and the overall atmosphere.
Ronni is majoring in Environmental Science and has a desire to help create ways than can sustain and preserve the world around us. Her dream job, though, would be to play professional basketball player like her father, Ronnie Grandison who played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets and also played in the CBA and overseas.
Self-described as "quiet but funny," Ronni's favorite part of playing basketball at UMass is her teammates and coaches. She feels blessed to be able to play the game she loves with so many great people helping her and pushing her to be her best.
In her free time, Ronni enjoys reading novels and admits she has a hard time putting a book down if it's a good one. She has a talent for sewing and crocheting, as well.
