UMass-NJIT Postgame Notes

AMHERST, Mass. -

This was the first game ever between UMass and NJIT in men's basketball.

Redshirt freshman center Andrew McCarthy, whose brother Sean is a 6-10 junior center for NJIT, played the final 1:01 for the Minutemen, while his older brother played the final 44 seconds. They guarded each other on each possession.

UMass has now won nine November games in a row, all six in 2010 and the first three this season.

Terrell Vinson recorded the fifth double-double of his career and second in three games this season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Freshman center Cady Lalanne grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in just 15 minutes, while adding 6 points.

Chaz Williams has recorded at least 15 points and eight assists in each of UMass' three games.

Raphiael Putney returned after missing last game with an arm injury suffered in the opener vs. Elon. He scored 12 points, all in the first half on 4-of-6 3-point shooting, but fouled out with 12:20 remaining in the game after being assessed a technical foul.
