AMHERST, Mass. -

  • This was the first game ever between UMass and NJIT in men's basketball.

  • Redshirt freshman center Andrew McCarthy, whose brother Sean is a 6-10 junior center for NJIT, played the final 1:01 for the Minutemen, while his older brother played the final 44 seconds. They guarded each other on each possession.

  • UMass has now won nine November games in a row, all six in 2010 and the first three this season.

  • Terrell Vinson recorded the fifth double-double of his career and second in three games this season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

  • Freshman center Cady Lalanne grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in just 15 minutes, while adding 6 points.

  • Chaz Williams has recorded at least 15 points and eight assists in each of UMass' three games.

  • Raphiael Putney returned after missing last game with an arm injury suffered in the opener vs. Elon. He scored 12 points, all in the first half on 4-of-6 3-point shooting, but fouled out with 12:20 remaining in the game after being assessed a technical foul.
