AMHERST, Mass. - Chaz Williams recorded the first double-double of his career with 20 points and a career-high 10 assists.

Williams' 10 assists are the most by a UMass player since Chris Lowe had 11 on Feb. 25, 2009 against Duquesne.

Raphiael Putney, who made his first career start in the season opener, but left the game in the first half with an arm injury, did not dress and junior Terrell Vinson started in his place at forward.

UMass is now 16-4 all-time in its first game held at the Mullins Center each season since its opening in 1993.

Five-foot nine point guard Chaz Williams blocked the second shot of his career early in the game on a 3-point attempt by 6-2 Jonathan Lee.

With his first and only rebound of the day, redshirt senior Sean Carter recorded the 500th board of his career. 418 of his 500 have come with the Minutemen after transferring from Oregon State after his freshman season.

Former UMass star and current Denver Nugget Gary Forbes was in attendance cheering on his alma mater.
