Postgame Notes: UMass Beats Sacred Heart For First Time

  • UMass is 2-0 for the first time since 2007-08 season.

  • The Minutemen beat Sacred Heart in the first-ever meeting between the teams.

  • Senior Anthony Gurley scored in double-figures for the 51st time in his career and second time in as many games this season with 18.

  • Sophomore Sampson Carter scored in double-figures for the fifth time in his career and first this season with a career-high 17.

  • Sampson set career highs in field goals made (5) and attempted (10). He also tied his career-highs in free throws made (7) and attempted (8).

  • Junior Matt Hill tallied a career-high with six points.

  • Freshman Daryl Traynham had a career-high with his first college points with first game in double-figures with 11. He also had four steals and four assists.

  • Sophomore Terrell Vinson drew a charge in the first minutes of the game, the third drawn charge of his career and first this season.

  • Vinson also tied his career-high in assists with four.
