UMass-Baylor Postgame Notes

- Overall Notes

This was UMass' 100th all-time game against a ranked team (based on the AP Poll). UMass is now 30-70 all-time vs. ranked teams with five wins against ranked teams since 2004. UMass has one win against a ranked team in each of the last two seasons (Dayton in 2007-08 and Kansas in 2008-09).

The last time UMass played a Big 12 team was its 61-60 win over then-No. 25 Kansas in Kansas City on Dec. 13, 2008. It was also UMass' last win over a ranked team.

UMass has played three ranked teams this season: then-No. 2 Michigan State on Nov. 28 (a 106-68 loss), then-No. 19 Temple on Jan. 16 (a 76-64 loss) and today at Baylor.

UMass equaled its season-low for field goal shooting in the first half at 19.4 (6-of-31). UMass also shot 19.4 percent at Seton Hall on Dec. 7.

UMass' 42 rebounds were the most by any Baylor opponent this season.

UMass scored its fewest points since a 64-44 loss to Xavier on Feb. 14, 2004.

Record Book Notes

Ricky Harris moved to sixth in career scoring at UMass with 15 in the game. He now has 1,656. He passed current UTEP coach Tony Barbee (1,643). Next on the list at No. 5 is Lorenzo Sutton (1,731). He passed Barbee with UMass' first points of the game on a 3-pointer, one minute into the game.

Harris continues to stand fifth in career field goal attempts at UMass with 1,300, after he took 14 shots in the game. Next on the list at No. 4 is Mike Pyatt (1,318).

Harris continues stand to eighth in career made free throws with one in the game. He now has 336. Next on the list is No. 7 Rashaun Freeman (379).

Harris continues to be third on the career 3-pointers attempted list with eight in the game, giving him 690 in his career. Next on the list is Anthony Anderson (705).

Harris is fourth in career made 3-pointers (242). Carmelo Travieso is third with 245 makes on 666 attempts from 1993-97.

Individual Player Notes

Ricky Harris scored in double-figures for the 18th time this season in as many games with 15. Harris now has 29 games in a row in double-figures and 82 in his 116 career games. Dating to his sophomore year, Harris has 79 of his last 84 games with 10 or more points.

Ricky Harris scored 20 or more points for the sixth time this season and 34th in his career. It was his most points since 26 vs. Cornell in the second game of the season.

Harris is the A-10's second-leading active career scorer (1,656) behind only La Salle's Rodney Green (1,700).

Terrell Vinson had his second-career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. He had his other vs. Grambling (20 points and 11 rebounds).

Terrell Vinson scored in double-figures for the eighth time this season with 14.

Vinson had his third game with double-figure rebounds, all against top teams (Memphis, Temple and Baylor), as he had 12.

Hashim Bailey had a 11 rebounds, his third game in double-figure boards. His career-high is 13 set vs. Fordham (1/6/10).

Sampson Carter returned to the starting line-up for the first time since the fifth game of the season. It was his sixth start of the year.

On the flip side, Anthony Gurley came off the bench for the first time since that fifth game. He had started the last 13 games in a row.

Series Notes

This was the first game between UMass and Baylor.

UMass is now 9-10 all-time against teams from the Big 12, winning its last one vs. Kansas last season.

UMass is 3-7 in games against teams from Texas with Saturday's result.

Also Of Note

With UMass playing Baylor, the current Baylor A.D. Ian McCaw hosted the school he left to move to Waco. McCaw served as UMass' A.D., in 2002-03.

Baylor Director of Basketball Operations Tim Maloney was on the opposite bench of the team he served as Associate Head Coach of from 2005-08, UMass.

Saturday's game was the first of consecutive Saturday games on ESPNU for UMass. Next Saturday, the same broadcast crew of Clay Matvick and Stephen Howard will be in Amherst to call the Charlotte at UMass game at 6 p.m.
