| John (Amherst): How did you get the nickname Bulldog? |
Kim Benton: Our announcer, Matty G, gave me the nickname bulldog. I am still not sure why it stuck. I now refer to myself as the bulldog! |
| moe weinlein: how do u feel about ur senior year |
Kim Benton: I am very excited about my senior year. I think we are going to have a great season and I am really looking forward to starting the season! |
| Philadelphia: Do you miss Pam? |
Kim Benton: Pam is one of my really good friends and one of my favorite teammates of all time. So yes, I would say i miss her. I miss all my former teammates! |
| moe weinlein: what advise would u give ur cousin who is a freshman at lasalle, cant wait for that game! |
Kim Benton: I would tell her to cherish every second of it because it goes by quickly. I will also tell her to just keep working hard and embrace all the workouts and hard work that goes into division 1 basketball. |
| JP, Germany: Kim,
How did you develop such a great shot? Have you ever played against bigger, stronger, and faster opponents to improve your game?
Chow! |
Kim Benton: My shot took hours and hours of practice. My dad and I spent countless hours in the driveway and in the gym just shooting. When I got to UMass, my asst. coach Jodi, helped me tremendously on my shot. Considering my height and speed, every single day I play against bigger, stronger, and faster opponents. I give a lot of credit to my former teammate Sakera Young, because she made me a better player with her quickness. |
| Raul in Philadelphia: What role has your dad played in your athletic development - specially basketball? |
Kim Benton: My dad has been my biggest supporter throughout my career. He has spent countless hours rebounding for me. I knew I was going to make it to college when I started beating him 1 on 1 in the driveway. Without his support, there is no way I would have made it this far. |
| Buddy Melon ( PA): Hi Kim, how do you feel about the upcoming season in the A10 in your last year at UMASS? ps. you are pleasure to watch play |
Kim Benton: I feel very confident in our upcoming season. We will be exciting to watch and a very different team than we were last year. We are still a work in progress, but by the time the A10 season comes around we will be a force! |
| Peter (Spencer): Does UMass Womens Basketball have some rivalries that you all tune up your focus and get extra psyched for or does it change with different opponents for example, during homecoming, each year? What would you say?
Knock knock on the door
Who's it for, nobody in here
Look in the mirror my friend , THANK YOU |
Kim Benton: I would say our biggest rival is Rhode Island. This is because we play them twice a year and they are always hard fought games. |
| Kate in Philly: How do you think you will do against Temple and SJU |
Kim Benton: We beat Temple last year and SJU is always a close game. I always want to get those 2 teams considering I am from Philly. Our team is strong this year so I think we can take any team if we out work them. |
Kim Benton: Thank you for everyone who wrote in today. I enjoyed talking with you. Make sure you come out and support the team. We play Boston University this Sunday at 2 p.m. Hope to see you there! GO UMASS!
