Peter Anderson Named Assistant Ski Coach

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass Head Skiing Coach Skip Fox has named Peter Anderson as an Assistant Coach for the Men's and Women's Ski teams. Anderson comes to UMass after working on project-based coaching as well as private coaching.

Before he began his project-based and private coaching in 2002, Anderson was a Men's International Ski Federation (FIS) coach at a Quantum Sports Club from 2000-2002. Prior to that, he served as a Men's and Women's FIS coach at the Rowmark Ski Academy from 1999-2000.

Anderson also worked at the Waterville Valley Ski Club/Academy from 1991-1999, where he was fully responsible for the Academy's individually tracked FIS athletes. He began as a JV Coach in 1991 before being promoted to the Men's and Women's FIS Coach in 1997.

Anderson has experience in several major competitive and training projects, especially with FIS Events. From 1998-2006 he worked during the NorAm Series and was a part of the U.S. Nationals from 1998-2005. Additionally, from 2000-2001 and again in 2004 Anderson worked on the European Projects.

In addition to his FIS experience, Anderson has also worked on several U.S. Ski Team Projects. From 2003-2004 he worked at Chile. In 1999 he served at Beaver Creek after working at Mt. Hood, Summit County and Mammoth in 1998.

Anderson also specializes in ski specific physical training, water based training and recovery, sports nutrition and supplementation, and has served as a ski technician at the World Cup level.

Anderson is a graduate of Dartmouth College in 1978 where he was a four year NCAA competitor for the Big Green. He was named as an Eastern Collegiate Champion in 1974 and was also named to the All East Ski-Team in 1974 and 1975.
