UMass Releases 2009 Ski Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass Head Ski Coach Skip Fox announced Monday the 2009 Men's and Women's Ski schedule. The schedule will have a similar appearance to last year's, comprising 12 meets with six giant slalom and six Slalom events. The Minutemen will be looking to defend their USCSA Giant Slalom title while the Minutewomen will look to continue to build after taking third in the USCSA Slalom event last year.
UMass Skiing will open up their 2009 campaign when they compete in the Colby-Sawyer College Carnival at Mount Sunapee on January 9 and 10. The women took third place in the slalom at last season's meet. After participating in the UConn Carnival at Cranmore in North Conway, N.H. on January 16 and 17, the Minutemen will travel to Waterville Valley to compete in the Plymouth State Carnival on January 24 and 25. The women placed third in the Giant Slalom at the Plymouth State Carnival last year.
After traveling to Pat's Peak in Henniker, N.H. to compete in the Slalom on January 31, UMass Skiing will move to Loon Mountain to participate in the M.I.T. Carnival on February 1 for the Giant Slalom. UMass will close out their regular season schedule when they compete in the B.C. Carnival in Jackson N.H. on February 6 and 7. Following the Slalom at the Middlebury Carnival in Middlebury, Vermont, both teams will participate in the ECSC Regionals at Waterville Valley, where the women placed second last season.
