AMHERST, Mass. - After an outstanding week, UMass senior forward Kate Mills (Elkton, Md.) was named the Atlantic 10 women's basketball player of the week for the fourth time this season. During the week, the Minutewomen won a thriller over Fordham and dropped a heartbreaker to Saint Joseph's where they had led most of the game.
Over the week, Mills averaged 26.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. She shot 55% from the field and 50% from behind the arc, recording double-doubles in both games.
Mills led all scoring with 27 points versus St. Joe's. She went 11-for-17 from the field and 2-for-4 from the three-point line. She also led all scoring against Fordham, finishing with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.
This week was no fluke, as Mills has recorded five double-doubles this season, while scoring double digits in every game but one.
This is the fourth time Mills has picked up conference honors this season, after receiving the award twice last season. Only one other player has received multiple A-10 Player of the Week awards thus far in 2007-08. Dayton's Nikki Oakland was honored twice, on Dec.3 and Dec. 10.
