Candynce Boney Named Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Candynce Boney (Las Vegas, Nev.) has earned her first rookie of the week honor after her performance against Binghamton and Cornell. Boney dominated in singles play last weekend and was the only UMass doubles teams to win against tennis powerhouse Cornell.
In the two matches, Boney went 2-0 in singles play winning the No. 3 singles 6-0, 7-6 against her Binghamton foe and then going on to win in No. 2 singles during a long three-game match (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) which she came back after a first game loss against Cornell. Her singles record now stands at 5-1 in dual meet play.
Boney and her doubles partner Masha Pozar fell in their No. 1 doubles match for the third time this year against Binghamton, but bounced back and took down Cornell, 8-3. Candynce holds an impressive 13-6 doubles record and a doubles tournament title as a freshman.
