POSTGAME NOTES: UMass vs. Rhode Island
* Tonight's crowd of 8,358 is the largest for a home A-10 game at the Mullins Center since a sell-out crowd against Temple on Feb. 17, 2001 (crowd of 9,493). Earlier this year UMass had a sellout of 9,493 against Boston College on Dec. 2, 2006.
* Tonight's crowd includes more than 3,500 students on Black Out Night.
* At 17-6 overall, UMass has its most wins in a season since the 1999-2000 campaign when the Minutemen finished 17-16.
* At 7-2 in league play, UMass moved into first place in the Atlantic 10 at the latest point in a season since Feb. 24, 1998, when the Minutemen were alone in first place at 12-2.
Stephane Lasme (18 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks) became the eighth player in NCAA history with three triple-doubles in the same season.... He had them against St. Francis and George Washington this season.

* UMass picked up its seventh wire-to-wire win this season. Last season UMass had just two.
* Gary Forbes had a UMass and season-best 22 points. He scored 11 points in the first half as he reached double-digits for the 18th time this season and 42nd in his career. His former career-high was 23 against eventual National Champion North Carolina (2/16/05).
* Stephane Lasme scored in double-figures for the 15th time in 23 games this season. He had 10 of his 18 points in the first 10 minutes of the game. It's his 35th career game with 10 or more points.
* Rashaun Freeman scored 10 or more points for the 21st time in 23 games this season and 85th in 108 career games.
* UMass held Rhode Island (the best 3-point shooting team in the A-10) without a 3-pointer in the first half as they went 0-for-8. They were just 27.6 percent from the floor overall in the first half.
* Rhode Island missed its first 12 shots of the game, going without a field goal for the first 11:09 of the game before a Jimmy Baron lay-up with 8:51 left in the first half.
