Forbes Earns National, A-10, UMass Honors

PHILADELPHIA - UMass senior Gary Forbes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the second time this season, on Sunday. He was also named CollegeHoops.net's National Player of the Year and the UMass Athlete of the Week. Also on Fox Sports.com, Forbes was named one of Frank Burlison's Top Five Players in the nation.
Forbes led UMass to a 2-0 week with a 23.5 scoring average along with 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Forbes scored 22 points, including 17 in the second half, in UMass' 83-80 win at Boston College. He had a game-high 25 points in the win over Toledo.
In the win at BC, Forbes also pulled down seven rebounds. For the week, he shot 15-of-28 from the field and 18-for-19 from the line on the week. He was also named A-10 Player of the Week after the second week of the season on Nov. 18.
