BOSTON - The UMass women's basketball team (2-4) closed out its season-long four-game road trip, falling to Boston University (5-2), 72-60, on Wednesday night at Case Gymnasium. Kate Mills (Elkton, Md.) registered the 10th double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Stefanie Gerardot (Fort Wayne, Ind.) led the Minutewomen with 13 points, including six points at the line. It was the 56th time in her career that Mills has scored in double figures, including all six games this season, while Gerardot has come off the bench to lead UMass in scoring in two games this season. BU's Jesyka Burkes-Wiley led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Alisha Tatham (Brampton, Ontario) added nine points for UMass. Amarac Umez-Eronini added 18 and Cheri Raffo 16 for the Terriers.

Both teams had trouble finding the bottom of the net early. With 10:58 remaining in the first half, UMass found themselves down, 15-7. The Minutewomen had shot 3-of-14 (21.4%) up to that point, while the Terriers were 6-of-19 (31.6%).

UMass used a 7-0 spurt, capped off by a Kim Benton (Springfield, Pa.) three-pointer and BU timeout, to pull within a point, 15-14, with 9:04 remaining. The Terriers however, outscored the Minutewomen, 20-13, for the remainder of the opening half to take a 35-27 lead into locker room. UMass shot 29.4% (10-34) in the first half. They were led by Gerardot with seven points and Mills with seven rebounds. BU shot 38.2% (13-34) and were led by Umez-Eronini's 11 first half points.

The Terriers extended their lead early in the second half, going on a 16-2 run over the first 6:25 to take a 51-29 lead. UMass scored on three straight possessions over a 44 second span, including a three-point play by Gerardot, to cut into the lead and make it 59-43 with 7:56 left.

BU led 72-49 with 3:21 left in the game, but UMass finished the game on an 11-0 run to make the final score 72-60. Sakera Young (Glassboro, N.J.) scored six points in the last three minutes to give her eight for the game and tie her career-high.

The Minutewomen shot 34.4% (22-64) for the game, while the Terriers shot 42.4% (28-66). UMass out-rebounded BU, 44-42.

UMass returns home on Saturday to host the Hartford Hawks in a 2 p.m. game at the Mullins Center.
