* UMass dedicated the court at the Mullins Center in honor of the man most synonymous with UMass basketball, Jack Leaman, who coached the team from 1966-79 before serving the athletic department in a variety of roles until his untimely death in 2004.

* UMass went on a 12-0 run early in the second half after trailing 34-30 with 18:23 left in the second half to take a 42-34 lead with 13:28 left in the half, they would never let Dayton lead again. In the run, Rashaun Freeman scored six of the 12 points.

* James Life returned to the starting line-up for the first time in five games and scored in double-figures for the 13th time this season with career-high tying 25. Life has been in double-figures in eight of the last 10 games. He is averaging 14.7 over his last 10 games.

* Life broke the 20-point make for the third time this season and second in four games after a career-high 25 at George Washington.

* Rashaun Freeman scored in double-figures for the 17th game this season and 63rd in his 82 career games. He finished with 19 points including 15 in the second half.

* Freeman had a game-high 12 rebounds to post his 11th double-double this season. He had 12 games this season with 10 or more rebounds including seven of the last 12 games.

* Stephane Lasme moved to a tie for second in career blocked shots with two in the game. He passed Harper Williams (222 in 1989-93) and now stands second with 222. Only Marcus Camby (336) has more in UMass history.

* UMass, which came into the game as the third-leading shot blocking team in the nation (7.4 bpg) swatted 11 shots. The Minutemen lead the A-10 with 188 this season. Dyaton has just 74 this year.

* Dante Milligan had a career-high four blocked shots. He previously blocked three against Saint Joseph's on Jan. 11.

* Chris Lowe had eight assists, one game after he tied his career-high with nine against Charlotte.

* UMass had a season-low nine turnovers. They had 10 against Boston University (12/12) and Duquesne (1/7).

* The game marked the fifth time UMass held its opponent below 50 points this season and ninth time below 60 points.
