PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The UMass Field Hockey team heads to Philadelphia for a pair of games this weekend that will go a long way in determining who is in next month's A-10 Tournament. The Minutewomen will battle West Chester on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and then La Salle on Sunday at Noon. UMass leads the all-time series against West Chester 12-4-1 and La Salle 10-1.
The Minutewomen are currently 1-3 in the A-10 which is tied for sixth-place, but are just two games out of second place. UMass beat La Salle 4-1 last year and West Chester 4-0. Both games were in Amherst.
Freshman Cher King, A-10 co-Rookie of the Week last week, has recorded at least one point in four of the last five games. Sophomore Lauren Gillespie leads the team with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists.
