* Boston College went on a 24-4 run midway through the first half, as the Eagles rallied from an 18-14 deficit with 11:10 left to build a lead as large as 38-22 with 2:14 left in the first half. The run was keyed by back-to-back three-pointers by Tyrese Rice and another by Sean Marshall.
* Rashaun Freeman reached double-figures for the eighth time in 10 games this season and 55th time in 67 career games. He now has 1,033 career points to stand in a tie for 34th all-time at UMass. with Derick Claiborne.
* Freeman also grabbed 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season and 24th of his career.
* Stephane Lasme scored in double-figures for the third game in a row and sixth time this season in 10 games with 12.
* Brandon Thomas broke out a recent slump with his first double-figure game since Nov. 28, spanning five games. He tallied 12 in the loss. Thomas has been in double-figures four times this season and 19 in his career.
* Brandon Thomas scored the first field goal for UMass for the fifth time in 10 games this season.
