* UMass held its opponent to the fewest points since Jan. 7, 1950, when they beat Norwich, 37-28.

* The crowd of 8,127 was the largest of the year and biggest since 9,037 came out for last year's upset of UConn on Dec. 9, 2004. It is the largest non-UConn game crowd at the Mullins Center since the last sell out at the Mullins Center (9,493) on Feb. 17, 2001 vs. Temple.

* It was the lowest field goal percentage for a UMass opponent since Dec. 12, 1998 when BC shot 23.7.

* UMass held Temple to just 15 first-half point, the fewest for a UMass opponent since Richmond on Feb. 12, 2003, when the Spiders trailed 25-14 at intermission.

* It was also the fewest point scored by Temple in the series, breaking the record of 35 points set in a 59-35 win on Feb. 1, 1996.

* Jeff Viggiano scored the first eight points and 11 of the first 14 points in the second half for UMass as he broke into double-figures for the third game in a row. It was his eighth game this season with 10 or more points and 34th of his career. He finished with 17 points, tying his season-high.

* Lawrence Carrier was 3-for-3 on 3-point attempts in the first half. He came into the game 3-for-15 from the arc. He added two more treys in the second half, setting his career-high for 3-pointers made.

* Carrier tied his career-high with 17 points, which was his second time in double-figures this season and seventh of his career.

* Chris Lowe had a career-high nine assists.

* UMass held its eighth opponent to less than 40 percent from the floor this season and fourth in a row.

* UMass' defense was stellar all game, the Owls had a drought of just 3 field goals in 29 shot attempts for nearly 20 minutes bridging the two halves.

* Rashaun Freeman had five rebounds in the game's first 7:18.

* After Temple started the game hitting 4-of-6 from the floor in the first 4:51, the Owls ended the half making just 2-of-18 over the final 15:09.

* Rashaun Freeman and Lawrence Carrier each drew charges in the win.

* James Life switched his uniform number from No. 5 to No. 34, which was his number in high school and at Manatee Community College, where he was a JUCO All-American.
