Field Hockey Plays At Syracuse Friday Night At 7:00

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Massachusetts (3-7) heads to Syracuse (4-6) for a Friday night game against the Orange. This marks the final conference road game for the Minutewomen as they begin the A-10 season next weekend at Richmond and Saint Louis.
The Series. . . Friday night marks the 15th meeting all-time between UMass and Syracuse. The Orange holds an 8-5-1 advantage in the all-time series and has won six games in a row including last year's 4-1 triumph at Garber Field. The last win for UMass against Syracuse came during the 1998 season when posted a 3-0 win at Garber.
Fantastic Freshmen . . . Of UMass' 15 goals this season, seven have been scored by freshmen. Katelyn Orlando leads the team with three goals. Mary Shea has a pair while Erin Parker and Lauren Gillespie each have one. Parker and Orlando have two assists apiece as well.
Dishing It Out. . . Massachusetts leads the Atlantic 10 with 15 assists this year. The Minutewomen have averaged one assist per goal. Patricia Borneo leads the team with three helpers. Katelyn Orlando, Katelyn Woolfrey, Erin Parker and Kara Murphy have two assists each.
From Here. . . UMass will enjoy a week off before beginning conference play next weekend. The Minutewomen will open up the conference slate against three-time defendiong champion Richmond next Friday at 3:00 PM. UMass then continues the trip against Saint Louis on Sunday at 2:00 PM (Eastern). Gametracker will be available for both of these games at www.umassathletics.com. UMass and Saint Louis have met two times before (UMass won both games), but next Sunday's match-up will be the first time that they have played as conference foes.
