* UMass had six players with 10 or more points for the first time since Dec. 27, 1991 when they beat Harvard 98-63 in Springfield. Jerome Malloy (19), Lou Roe (15), Jim McCoy (14), Tony Barbee (13), Harper Williams (12) and Will Herndon (10).

* UMass posted its second-largest margin of victory in the history of the Mullins Center, winning by 36 points. The record of 39 was set on Jan. 22, 2000, as UMass beat Rhode Island, 89-50, which was the largest spread dating to its opening in 1993.

* James Life broke into double-figures for the first time at UMass with a game-high 18.

* Brandon Thomas scored 15 points - 14 in the first half. Thomas was the first Minuteman to reach double-figures as he canned a three-pointer with 8:00 left in the first half to give him 12 points to that point. Thomas had 14 points when Savannah State had 14 points as a team, with 4:00 left in the first half, as UMass led 34-14, its largest lead of the half.

* Lawrence Carrier scored in double-figures for the sixth time in his career with 11 points.

* Maurice Maxwell reached double figures in the second half with a lay-up with 9:30 left. Its his 28th career game with 10 or more and second this season as he finished with 13.

* Freeman had 12 points and 12 rebounds for his 21st career double-double. It was his 49th career game with 10 or more points.

* Stephane Lasme, who came into the game as the nation's leading shot blocker had three and now has 23 this season. He is averaging 5.8 after the game, and came into the game ahead of Wyoming's Justin Williams (6.0 per game). Lasme had 10 points for his eighth career double-figure game.

* After not scoring the entire first half, Rashaun Freeman scored the first points of the second half just seconds into the stanza. Freeman did have rebounds in the first half as UMass outrebounded Savannah State 21-11.

* UMass shot 55.2 percent from the floor in the first half and led 39-24. They then hit the first four shots of the second half.

* Thomas has scored UMass' first field goal in each of the first four games this season.
