Entry 7: Sophomore Alisha Tatham We leave tomorrow for our first game of the season against Delaware, who we play on Friday. We are excited! It seems like just yesterday that we were getting up for 6:30 am, doing lifts, conditioning and individuals. We've been waiting or our season opener since the day we stepped on the track at Amherst College to run our mile test, at the beginning of the year, and its finally here. We have been preparing ourselves for Delaware for the past few days by putting in a new in bounds play, offense and a new defense. We've had a few scrimmages and watched video to show where we need improvements.
Delaware is a good team that stays in a two-three zone for most of the game along with a half court trap, so we've been working through their defense and have been trying to pick it apart. This game is going to be a challenge for us because Delaware is a good team, but we are up for the challenge and are hoping to come out on top. We've been through a lot together as a team since the beginning of the year and are getting closer to each other as the weeks go by. We enjoy each others' company off the court and support each other on the court. We're like a family and that's going to help us through our season. With goals in place, everyone focused and on the same page, we are ready for our season to start!
NOTE: This is the sixth in a series of diary entries leading up to the start of the regular season Nov. 18. A different player will submit an entry every couple of days talking about what the team is doing to prepare for the start of the season.
