Jaime Bawden Named First-Team All-Region

AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts senior back Jaime Bawden (Penticton, British Columbia) was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Northeast Region first-team Monday morning. Bawden finished the season fourth on the Minutewomen with four goals and three assists for 11 points.
Bawden was named the 2005 Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year. She was also a first-team All-Conference pick, an Academic All-Conference member and an A-10 All-Tournament team selection. Bawden was a key component of the UMass backfield and also had 11 points on the season. She finished the year playing in over 99 percent of the total minutes this season and had one game-winning goal and one defensive save. She closed out the regular season with a goal in three straight games and four out of her final five.
Bawden finished her stellar UMass career with 17 goals and five assists for 39 points. She started in all but one career game and was a three-time A-10 All-Conference pick. A member of the Commonwealth College, Bawden has been on both the Atlantic 10 Commissioners's and UMass Athletic Director's Honor Rolls every semester that she has been in Amherst. Bawden is also a three-time member of the A-10 Academic All-Conference team and the NFHCA National Academic team (2005 team has not been named yet).
UMass finished the 2005 season with an 8-13 record and advanced to the A-10 Championship game before falling to top-seeded Richmond.
