AMHERST, Mass. -- UMass freshman forward Mary Shea (Foxboro, Mass.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday. Shea scored the game-winning goal for the Minutewomen Sunday at Rhode Island to send them into the A-10 Tournament.

With just 8:17 left in the second half, Shea received a pass in front of the cage from freshman Brigitte Leonard (Dedham, Mass.) and stuffed it home to break a 1-1 tie. In one motion, Shea dove to get the pass and tip it in the cage. It was her third goal of the season and second game-winner.
