• Steve Lappas lost in his 500th career game and now has a career record of 270-230 in his 17th season.
• Temple started the game 1-for-23 from the floor through the first 11:30. The Owls had just 2 points for the first 10:04. Mardy Collins had the first points on a field goal with 15:44 left in the first half ... Temple started 0-for-8, made one basket and then missed 14 in a row, before they made two baskets in a row. For the first half, Temple shot just 7-for-40 for 17.5 percent.
• Temple's 21 points in the first half were the fewest a UMass opponent this season. Rider had 22 at halftime.
• Senior Anthony Anderson added to his career point total as he now has 1,088, which stands 27th all-time. Next on the list is Mike Williams, who had 1,122 from 1992-95. Anderson added to his career totals in three-pointers (248), which is second all-time to Monty Mack, who made 331. Anderson is also third in all-time three-pointers attempted with 643. He is also eighth in career assists with 334.
• Freshman Jeff Salovski played a career-high 18 minutes and hauled down a career-high 9 rebounds.
• UMass has 10 wins against Temple at the Mullins Center - the most against any opponent at the arena. This game was the 15th at Mullins between the UMass and Temple, the most of any series to be played at Mullins.
• UMass is in the midst of its longest homestand (six games) in more than 70 years, as the school hosted seven home games in a row in 1930-31 at Drill Hall.

Maurice Maxwell's dunk with 15 minutes left in the second half gave UMass a 10-point lead, its largest of the game to that point (35-25) ... Temple took its first lead pf the game with 5:30 left in the second half on a Salisbery three-pointer to make it 49-47.
