AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts women's basketball senior point guard Cleo Foster (Toronto, Ontario) was given the Jack Leaman Team Award at this morning's annual banquet. This award is presented to the women's basketball player who best exemplifies an ultimate team player; the person who gives of themselves for the betterment of the team both on and off the court.

Foster was faced with the task of playing out of position all year long. Known as a defensive specialist, she took over the reigns of point guard this year and responded with 3.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season. She had averaged 1.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in 21.2 minutes over her three years entering this season. She finished 12th in the league this year in assists and her 1.19 assist to turnover ratio was 10th-best in the Atlantic 10. She also added six blocked shots and 33 steals while leading the team at the free throw line. She dished out a career-high nine assists in a win over Vermont on Dec. 3, 2003, and also tallied a career-high 12 points in a win over Dayton on Jan. 11, 2004.
