Senior Jafra Depontes (Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii) has rejoined the University of Massachusetts women's tennis team, announced head coach Judy Dixon this afternoon. Depontes had been a member of the team until her junior year, but did not initially return to the team at the beginning of this year. With one year of eligibility remaining, she has decided to return to the team. Dixon also announced that senior Jenny Munroe has left the team for personal reasons.
Depontes currently sits in seventh all-time at UMass in career doubles wins, and 11th in career singles victories. Last season, she posted a singles record of 7-6 and a doubles record of 11-5 in the spring season, while not competing in the fall.
"We are very excited to Jafra returning to us," said Dixon. "She should be able to step right in and give us some help to fill the void left by Jenny. Her presence will also allow us to get back some of the flexibility we enjoyed at the beginning of the season as well."
