Bailey Named UMass Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior forward Edris Bailey (Mt. Hope, Trinidad & Tobago) of the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team has been named the Dinn Brothers/UMass Athlete of the Week it was announced at the weekly sports luncheon this afternoon.
Bailey averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Minutewomen split two games last week. In the 63-49 win over UNC-Greensboro Dec. 30 at the Mullins Center, Bailey scored 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds. She also added three steals. Bailey then recorded 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in UMass' 64-60 loss at La Salle on Saturday, Jan. 3. She was 9-for-15 from the field against the Explorers and also had one blocked shot.
For the season, Bailey is third on the team scoring 9.5 ppg and second pulling down 5.2 rpg. The Minutewomen (4-9 overall, 0-2 A-10) return home for a pair of games this weekend at the Mullins Center. UMass hosts Temple on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Dayton on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
