Marnie Dacko Announces Assistant Coach

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts women's basketball head coach Marnie Dacko announced today that Kia Damon will join her coaching staff this season. Damon spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

In three seasons with the Knights, Damon was in charge of the daily operation of the women's basketball program. She was also the recruiting coordinator and responsible for scheduling. In addition, Damon assisted in the development of the Knights' post players and was in charge of the Knights' Hoop Club arrangements.

While Damon was at Fairleigh Dickinson, the Knights posted a 36-48 overall record. She helped produce a first team All-Northeast Conference selection last season as well as an All-Rookie team member.

Prior to her tenure at the Hackensack, N.J., school, Damon spent two seasons as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She helped lead the Phoenix to a 40-19 record, two NCAA Tournament appearances and two Mid-Continent Conference championships.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Damon played at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, leading the Lady Marauders to the post season twice. The two-time team captain averaged 11.6 points per game her last two seasons. She was also an All-Metro second team player out of Western High in Baltimore.
