AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's gymnastics team will travel to Kingston, R.I., this weekend for the fourth stop in its five-week road trip. The Minutewomen, 1-5 this season, will try to even their record with a win at the URI Invitational. The meet, set to begin at 12 noon on Sunday, will include squads from UMass, N.C. State, Brown, Yale and host Rhode Island.
Last weekend, placed fourth at the Governor's Cup at West Virginia, falling to the host Mountaineers, Kentucky and Atlantic 10 foe George Washington.
Earlier this season, UMass won an extremely close decision at Yale, in the only meeting the Minutewomen have had with any of the teams that will be at the URI Invitational.
"Hopefully, this will be a chance for us to post a high team score and get headed back in the right direction," head coach Dave Kuzara said. "We've had a great week of practice, and we're looking forward to another challenge."
The Minutewomen will conclude their current road trip next weekend as they travel to Cambridge, Mass., to take on M.I.T. in a dual meet on Feb. 16.
