Minutewomen head coach Marnie Dacko announced that Sha-Kia Hart has signed a national letter of intent to play at UMass beginning in 2003-04.

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts women's basketball head coach Marnie Dacko announced that Sha-Kia Hart (Westchester, N.Y.) has signed a national letter of intent during the early signing period.

"Sha-Kia's inside/outside game will fit nicely into our system," said Dacko. "She will help to bolster our front line attack."

Hart is a 6'3 power forward/center from Westchester, NY., where she attends Martin Luther Kings High School. Last season, Hart averaged 18 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks for Head Coach Vincent Laurenceau.

Hart was most recently named to Slam Jam's All-Star Team. Slam Jam is a well respected New York City Basketball Tournament. Hart was also named honorable mention All-New York by Gameball Magazine.

Hart plays AAU basketball for the NYC Gauchos. Three of her teammates have now signed collegiate scholarships. She opens up her season on Dec. 5th.
