Maroon Beats White In Intrasquad Scrimmage

AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior co-captain Micah Brand (Middletown, N.Y.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Maroon team to a 54-35 victory over the White team in the University of Massachusetts' men's basketball team's intrasquad game at Curry Hicks Cage Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Kyle Wilson (White Rock, British Columbia) contributed 16 points and five assists to the Maroon team's winning effort, while freshman Alassane Kouyate (Bamako, Mali) had 13 points and five rebounds.
The White team was paced by junior Anthony Anderson's (Lynn, Mass.) 10 points and Jackie Rogers' (Syracuse, N.Y.) nine points.
Saturday's scrimmage, which was attended by more than 800 fans at historic Curry Hicks Cage, was conducted under game-type conditions, complete with officials.
The Minutemen open their 2002-03 season with exhibition games against the NIKE All-Stars (Nov. 7) and the Coaches vs. Cancer All-Stars (Nov. 16) before facing 2002 NCAA runner-up Indiana in the opening round of the 2002 EA Sports Maui Invitational, Nov. 25.
