Betsy Mosher Named Associate A.D.

AMHERST, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts Athletic Director Ian McCaw announced today the appointment of Betsy Mosher as the school's new Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Services.
"We are excited to have someone with Betsy's experience join our administrative team," McCaw said. "She brings a tremendous wealth of compliance and administrative experience to our staff, having not only worked with the NCAA, but in both an institutional and conference setting as well."
Prior to joining the UMass staff, Mosher spent six years (1996-2002) as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator at Arizona State University. Mosher was a member of ASU's athletic department senior management team, and during her tenure oversaw the school's compliance, academic and student services, and personnel areas. She also supervised the sports of volleyball, softball, soccer and wrestling, while working closely with the women's basketball program.
In addition, Mosher served as liaison to Arizona State's general counsel, the school's Intercollegiate Athletics Board, the NCAA and the Pacific-10 Confernece. She represented ASU on numerous Pac-10 and NCAA committees, and was the 1999-2000 vice president of the Pac-10 Conference. Mosher is also a former member of the NCAA softball committee.
Before moving to Arizona State, Mosher worked seven years at Northwestern (1989-96), five as an assistant director and two as associate director, in addition to serving as the school's SWA. At Northwestern, her primary duties were to maintain department and university compliance with NCAA and Big Ten legislation through a program of education, monitoring and enforcement when necessary, serve as the school's SWA and supervise selected sports. Mosher directly supervised Wildcat baseball, women's basketball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's swimming. She is a past chair of the Big Ten Women's Administrator's Group and the Rules and Legislation Committee.
Mosher also served as a legislative assistant at the Big Ten (1988-89) and from 1986-88 she was an NCAA compliance representative. Prior to her move into administration, Mosher served as the head women's basketball and softball coach at California State (Pa.). She began her collegiate athletics career as the head women's basketball coach at Wisconsin-Whitewater from 1977-79.
A 1972 graduate of Illinois State University (education), Mosher earned her master's degree from Northern Colorado in 1976 and her director's degree from Indiana in 1986. She replaces Jeff O'Malley, who went to Marshall in July as the school's Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief of Staff.
