Gymnast Megan Donoghue Tabbed WHMP/UMass Athlete of Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Megan Donoghue (Tewksbury, Mass.) was named WHMP/UMass Athlete of the Week, the Sports Luncheon Committee announced today. Donoghue led the University of Massachusetts women's gymanstics team to a 191.825-191.750 victory over Yale as she captured her first career all-around title.
Donoghue scored a career-high 38.675, the eighth-highest all-around total in school history. She also tied for second on both vault (9.650) and balance beam (9.750), and placed second on floor exercise (9.825). Her balance beam score was the highest of her career, while her floor exercise score was her second best.
The Minutewomen will return to action next Saturday, as they travel to Ithaca, N.Y., to face Cornell. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
