AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's gymnastics team will begin its 2002 season on Saturday, as it welcomes Rutgers to Boyden Gymnasium for a 4:00 p.m. meet.

The Minutewomen will be led by lone senior Tracy Chew (Silver Spring, Md.). Chew led last year's team on vault, and was among the team leaders in the all-around. Along with Chew, five juniors, two sophomores and six freshman will be expected to provide depth for the Minutewomen.

"We're extremely excited about the first meet of the season," head coach Dave Kuzara. "This meet should give us a good idea about where we are as a team right now, and what we need to work on for our upcoming meets."

Rutgers enters the meet with an 0-1 overall record, having dropped a 190.600-189.150 decision at home to New Hampshire on Thursday night.
