Men's Water Polo Falls To Harvard, 6-5

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The 13th-ranked University of Massachusetts men's water polo team was upset by Harvard, 6-5, this afternoon in the third-place game of the CWPA Northern Division Playoffs. The Minutemen had a 3-2 lead at halftime, but were outscored by the Crimson 4-2 in the second half.
UMass was led by senior Adam Moore (Sinking Spring, Pa.) who scored a pair of goals. Other scorers were senior Antonio Makdonado (San Juan, Puerto Rico), junior Justin Houck (Reading, Pa.) and senior Evan Lutz (Laguna Hills, Calif.). Maldonado and Lutz each added an assist for the Minutemen.
In net, senior J.R. VanderWall (Rockford, Mich.) made nine saves in the loss.
UMass will next compete for the Eastern Championship and its automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The tournament action will take place on the campus of Princeton University, Nov. 17-18.
