CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The 13th-ranked University of Massachusetts men's water polo team defeated Bucknell and No. 16 Princeton today to reach the finals of the ECAC Championship, hosted by Harvard University.
With its 8-4 win in the semi-finals, UMass avenged the double-overtime loss they suffered to Princeton on Sept. 29. Earlier in the day, the Minutemen topped Bucknell, 12-4.
UMass will face the winner of Saturday night's game between Queens and St. Francis tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. The Minutemen finished the regular season tied with Queens atop the Collegiate Water Polo Association, but lost the tiebreaker based on the 6-5, overtime loss the Minutemen suffered on Oct. 6, making them the second seed at next weeks CWPA Northern Division Play-offs. UMass is 2-0 this season against St. Francis.
