Bonnies Too Much For Minutemen

OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - Forward Peter Van Paassen scored 25 points as St. Bonaventure secured second place in the Atlantic 10 conference's East Divison with a 86-69 win over Massachusetts Saturday.
St. Bonaventure (19-8, 11-5) dominated, outshooting the Massachusetts (15-14, 9-7) 53 percent to 31 percent. On the boards, The Bonnies outrebounded Massachusetts 50-to-34. Van Paassen grabbed 15 of those boards, a career high, and center Caswell Cyrus had 10.
St. Bonaventure held Massachusettes scoreless for the first two minutes of the game, taking a 7-0 lead. The lead grew to 14 points, 38-24, by halftime.
In the opening half, the Bonnies were keyed by 55 percent shooting from the floor and 12 points by guard David Messiah Capers.
Massachusetts was led by Monty Mack, who scored 28 points, but shot 9-for-25 from the field.
