ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Marcus Faison scored 22 points to lead Siena to a 66-65 victory over Massachusetts Thursday night in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Faison sparked a comeback by the Saints (24-8) with six points in 60 seconds with less than four minutes left in the game.
Freshman Michael Buhrman scored his first points of the game with a tip-in with 1:03 left. With eight seconds left, he grabbed a rebound and was fouled. He missed the free throw, but Siena held as Shannon Crooks' driving shot failed.
For Massachusetts (17-16), Monty Mack had 20 points and four assists.
Siena advances against Penn State Monday or Tuesday, at a site to be announced. Penn State beat Princeton 54-41 on Wednesday.
