AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Jennifer Butler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 18.

Butler averaged nine points and 12 rebounds during UMass? two games last week versus then-No. 22 Stanford and Rhode Island. She was instrumental in the Minutewomen?s 74-69 upset of the Cardinal on Dec. 12, posting a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Butler tallied seven points and a team-high 13 caroms in UMass? 66-59 victory over the Rams on Dec. 14. She is averaging 8.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game this season.

The Minutewomen are 3-6 this season and will travel to Hanover, N.H. to compete in the Dartmouth Classic from Dec. 28-29. UMass will face Furman on the first day at 6 p.m., and will then take on either Dartmouth or William & Mary on the second day for the tournament or consolation championship.
