Coyner Named WHMP/UMass Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Kathy Coyner (Belpre, Ohio), a guard on the University of Massachusetts women?s basketball team, was recently named the WHMP/UMass Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 12.

Coyner registered 20 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals with just one turnover to lead the Minutewomen to a 74-69 upset of then No. 22 Stanford on Dec. 12. She is averaging 9.2 points per game this season to rank second on the squad and leads the team in assists, dishing out 6.0 assists per game.

UMass is 3-6 this season.
