DETROIT (AP) - Rashad Phillips made 15 of 17 free throws and finished with 27 points to lead Detroit to a 63-59 win over Massachusetts on Saturday.
Both teams suffered from poor shooting. The host Titans (5-2) were 20-of-55 (36.4 percent) and the Minutemen made 20 of 52 (38.5 percent).
Massachusetts (4-3) led for most of the first half, but Julian Van Dyke made a layup for Detroit with 1:18 to go, giving the Titans a 27-26 lead at intermission.
The Minutemen took the lead again, but Phillips was fouled as he made a jump shot with 16:21 remaining. He converted the free throw and made a 3-pointer 24 seconds later to give Detroit a 38-32 lead that the Titans carried through to the end.
Chris Kirkland and Ronnell Blizzard each made 3-pointers for Massachusetts in the last 8 seconds, but Phillips finished the scoring with a free throw that secured the win.
Desmond Ferguson added 10 points for Detroit.
Kirkland led the Minutemen with 17 points and six rebounds. Shannon Crooks added 13 points and Micah Brand scored 11 off the bench.
