AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women?s basketball team will be looking for its first win of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 30, versus New Hampshire at 7 p.m. in the Mullins Center. The Minutewomen are enduring a four-game losing skid this season at 0-4, while the Wildcats are 1-2 this season.

UMass is coming off a 60-45 loss to No. 18 Boston College on Nov. 27. Sophomore Caroline Nehls (Randolph, N.J.) posted a career-high 20 points in the loss.

Although UMass has lost its first four games of the season, head coach Joanie O?Brien is optimistic that the pieces will all fall together for her Minutewomen squad.

"When I look at this team, we have eight first or second year players," O?Brien says. "So nobody in the past really had to step up and be a leader. It?s a new situation for everybody. We are young and we have kids who have that ability to be very good players. They just have to keep working at it. We are still trying to find our identity, so we just have to keep plugging away with it. Sooner or later, we will find our identity and then we will be okay."

Senior Alison MacFarland (Brick, N.J.) is leading the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game, while Nehls is not too far behind at 10.3 points per game. Freshman Jennifer Butler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is the squad?s top rebounder with 9 boards per game.

New Hampshire is coming off a 76-60 victory over Siena on Nov. 28, in which Kelly Donohue led the way in scoring with 16 points. Orsi Farkas paces the squad with 15.7 points per game, while Aubrey Danen is the team?s top rebounder with 6.7 boards per game. UMass is ahead in the series versus the Wildcats, 16-12, and won the last meeting in 1996, 60-52.
