WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Alison MacFarland (Brick, N.J.) tallied a team-high 18 points, 15 of which came in the second half, in the University of Massachusetts 78-55 loss to Holy Cross on Nov. 23 in Worcester, Mass. The Minutewomen fall to 0-3 this season with the loss.

Two other UMass players scored in double-figures in the loss with junior Kathy Coyner (Belpre, Ohio) collecting 14 points and senior Tonia Thomas (Seguin, Texas) registering 10 points for her second straight game with double-figure scoring. Freshman Jennifer Butler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had an outstanding night defensively with a team-high 15 rebounds, in addition to adding seven points offensively.

Anna Kinne led the Crusaders with 24 points, while Amanda Abraham posted 16 points for the game.

Holy Cross jumped out to a commanding 19-6 lead with a 13-0 run halfway through the first half and pushed the Crusader advantage to as much as 17 points at the end of the half at 40-23. The Minutewomen were unable to pull the advantage to under double-digits for the remainder of the game, falling for the third straight game on the road, 78-55.

UMass will return home this weekend to face 18th-ranked Boston College at 2 p.m. in the Mullins Center on Nov. 27. The Eagles are 3-2 this season and are enduring a two-game losing skid with losses to third-ranked Georgia and 15th-ranked Illinois. Cal Bouchard is pacing the squad in scoring with 14 points per game, while Becky Gottstein is the team?s top rebounder with 9.4 boards a game. The series is tied at three wins apiece between the Eagles and the Minutewomen.
