Rodger Twitchell

Rodger Twitchell was a three-year letterman in basketball and tennis from 1961-64.
On the hardwood, Twitchell was a member of UMass' 1962 team which captured the Yankee Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever.
Twitchell led the team in scoring as a junior (17.0 ppg) and senior (18.3 ppg) and ranks among the top scorers in UMass history with 1,151 points, which stood as the second-highest mark in school history at the time of his graduation.
A first-team all-Yankee Conference player in 1962 and 1963, Twitchell was a first-team All-NABC District I selection as a junior in 1963 and his 10.9 career rebound average also stands among the top totals all-time at UMass.
In tennis, Twitchell posted a career record of 24-1 in singles and 16-4 in doubles. He won three straight Yankee Conference singles titles and the 1963 Yankee Conference doubles crown. Twitchell was a member of UMass' 1962 and 1963 Yankee Conference champion tennis teams, and was selected as Massachusetts' standout two-sport athlete as a senior in 1964.
Twitchell was inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001.
