Brian Sullivan was a first team all-America selection in 1972, which marked the first time a member of the Redmen had been honored with the award. He was a three-year letterwinner in ice hockey from 1969-72 and served as the captain of the 1972 ECAC Division II Championship team.
Sullivan played in 64 career games, scored12 goals and added 32 assists in three seasons. During his senior year, he netted five goals and tallied 11 assists en route to being picked as an all-American defensive selection.
Following college, Sullivan was a member of the New England Blades of the Eastern Hockey League in 1972-73. He was the first "modern day" UMass hockey player to play professionally.
He was inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2011.
