John Francis Kennedy Champions Center
In Fall 2015, Massachusetts debuted another in its line of recent sport facility construction projects with the introduction of the John Francis Kennedy Champions Center for UMass Basketball.
The $29.9 million, 55,000-square foot facility provides dedicated practice and training facilities for the UMass men’s and women’s basketball teams. The first level includes two full-size basketball courts, a multitude of support spaces and a lounge area. Amenities include locker rooms, sports medicine and weight training rooms, film room, dining area, laundry facilities, and equipment storage.
Each locker room is adjacent to a players' common area which includes a fully-stocked pantry and nutrition station. The second floor houses office and conference space for program coaches and staff. An entry foyer, complete with a VIP lounge and balcony, overlooks the practice courts. The Champions Center is located adjacent to the Mullins Center, and connected to the main arena via an enclosed walkway.
