Downey Signs Free Agent Contract With Baltimore Ravens

Football alumnus ranked top-10 nationally in tackles for loss during 2017

BALTIMORE - University of Massachusetts football alumnus Da'Sean Downey signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, as announced by the organization via press release. Downey, who was initially brought in by the team as a rookie mini-camp invitee, led the Massachusetts defensive line with a career-best 20 tackles for loss in 2017.

Downey finished his final season with the Minutemen ranked among the top five nationally with his 20.0 tackles for loss, which included 6.0 sacks. A disruptive force off the right edge, Downey tallied a career-high 58 tackles while he also added three pass breakups and as many quarterback hurries.

The Baltimore Ravens begin their 2018 preseason on Thurs., Aug. 2 against the Chicago Bears with participation in the annual NFL Hall of Fame Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
