Hockey Signs Lindberg To NLI

The 6-0, 180-pound goaltender ranked on NHL Central Scouting's Final rankings for the 2018 NHL Draft.
AMHERST, Mass.- Filip Lindberg, a 6-0, 180-pound goaltender from Espoo, Finland, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Massachusetts hockey program, head coach Greg Carvel announced On Friday. Lindberg, who made the list for European goaltenders in NHL Central Scouting's Final rankings for the 2018 NHL Draft, joins forwards Anthony Del Gaizo and Bobby Kaiser and defensemen Marc Del Gaizo and Ty Farmer as the fifth member of the Minutemen's Class of 2022.
"Filip comes to UMass by way of Finland, where he was an All-League goaltender in the Finnish U20 Super Elite League," said Carvel. "He is a highly athletic goalie who relies on his quickness and athleticism to make difficult saves. Adding Filip to our team will give us tremendous depth at his position, as he will press for playing time this season. Another excellent student, who I am excited to welcome to our team as his work ethic and commitment will push our program forward."
During the 2017-18 season with the TUTO Hockey U20 team in the Jr. A SM-liiga, Lindberg saw action in 48 games, posting a 2.69 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. He also represented Finland in the 2018 Five Nations Junior Tournament and was named Jr. A Sm-liiga Scholastic Player of the Year and earned a spot on the Jr. A SM-liiga Second All-Star Team.
Prior to joining TUTO Hockey, Lindberg spent the 2016-17 season with the Blues U18 of the Jr. B SM-sarja and was honored with the Jarmo Myllys Award as the Jr. B SM-sarja Best Goaltender and was selected to the 2016-17 Jr. B SM-sarja First All-Star Team. Lindberg earned Jr. B SM-sarja silver medals in 2015-16 and 2016-17 and was a Jr. C SM-sarja Champion in 2014-15.
